Training Workshop for Female Members of Indus Dolphin Ecotourism Enterprise held at Kot Addu

Sustainable Tourism Foundation Pakistan arranged a workshop for 10 female members of Indus Dolphin Ecotourism Enterprise from 11 July to 17 July 2015. The purpose of this training workshop was to polish the skills of enterprise members in improving the quality of traditional handicrafts which they are now producing for sale as souvenirs to the tourists coming for dolphin watching trips organize through the Indus Dolphin Ecotourism Enterprise. This training workshop was held in Farwa Vocational Center located at Kot Addu which is a small town in southern Punjab. Miss. Irum Nazir and Miss. Samina Enayat were engaged to provide services of trainers.

This workshop provided an opportunity to the female members of ecotourism enterprise to learnt about various techniques of flower-pot making using the straws of bamboo, making of hand-fan using the leafs of date-tree, making  bedcover called “Ralli” using better color combination and design pattern will small pieces of cloths. They also improved their skills of making various kinds of weed baskets and decoration pieces.  The traditional craft items produced by these women will be displayed at Ecotourism Information Center for sale and the income from the sale proceeds will go to the respective families in the local community.
